SAFETY

MAXIMIZE YOUR POTENTIAL FOR PEACE OF MIND AND THE FREEDOM TO FOCUS

Feeling safe gives you the freedom to be the best driver you can be, to concentrate on enjoying the road ahead and feel your spirits lifted by the experience of driving a MAZDA. That’s why we focus not just on what safety prevents, but also on what it makes possible.

SAVING AND ENRICHING LIVES

For MAZDA, making safer vehicles is about more than just protecting the people riding in them. Our vision is for a world with no road accidents, where all road users are safe, and drivers’ lives are enriched by the freedom and joy that driving provides.

To achieve this, Mazda promotes initiatives from perspectives not only from safer vehicles, but also from people and roads and infrastructure.

Safety and peace of mind for anyone, anytime, anywhere

Developing and commercializing safer vehicles: Mazda has set a goal for 2040 and is contributing to the reduction of traffic accident fatalities. Mazda promotes vehicle safety technologies and has received high safety performance evaluations in markets around the world.

Raising safety awareness among people: Mazda is promoting awareness activities through various opportunities. In collaboration with local governments, neighborhood associations, related companies, and universities, we are challenging ourselves to change people's awareness and behavior through research and demonstration experiments.

Coordination with roads and infrastructure:  Mazda shares insights gained from research and demonstration experiments with local governments and others, advocating for infrastructure improvements at hazardous road sections and accident-prone areas.

Through these initiatives, Mazda aims to realize a society where safe and secure mobility is accessible for anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Mazda’s Safety Philosophy, "MAZDA PROACTIVE SAFETY"

Going beyond conventional safety approaches that focus on “responding after risks approach the vehicle” or “minimizing damage in the event of an accident,” Mazda develops safety technology based on a unique philosophy: “Keep risks away from the driver in the first place.” To achieve this, Mazda ensures “drivers can always perform at their best (by watching over and supporting them).” This results in “driving that is enjoyable, while ensuring safer and more peace of mind for both the driver and others.”

Rather than reacting after a dangerous situation arises, Mazda anticipates risks and proactively avoids them altogether. This philosophy is called “MAZDA PROACTIVE SAFETY,” and the technology is featured in every Mazda vehicle. Through this safety philosophy, Mazda aims to enable drivers to move more safely, securely, freely, and with vitality by their own will, while protecting customers' lives and their sense of purpose.
