yamamotoshinbe
yamamotoshinbe

In 1991, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Mazda became the first manufacturer in the world—and the first Japanese manufacturer—to win the overall title with a rotary engine. On this occasion, we will host a special lecture by the employees who played a key role in that victory.

Additionally, this commemorative lecture will be live-streamed at MAZDA TRANS AOYAMA and MAZDA BRAND SPACE OSAKA and KOBE MAZDA EVENTSQUARE! No reservation is required, so feel free to join us.

③Lecture Content

It has been 35 years since the Mazda 787B No. 55 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. As we mark this milestone, we would like to share the history and technology behind this achievement with everyone—whether you were there at the time or not.

Behind the 1991 victory lay a defeat in 1990, a year in which the team had approached the race with a determination to win. Ritsuji Shimizu, head of rotary engine design, and Hiroyuki Nomura, head of chassis mechanics, will share in detail how they put that experience to use.

Don’t miss these little-known behind-the-scenes stories of the path to glory, told with all the passion and excitement of that era!

Special Exhibition
