In line with Mazda’s new brand message, “We want to drive. We want to create that desire to drive,” we’ll take a closer look at what engineers in various fields—the very people who “create that desire to drive”—are thinking, what they value, and how they’re bringing that desire to life. For the first installment, we’ll host a special lecture by the engineer in charge of developing the manual transmission for the fourth-generation Roadster.
Additionally, this commemorative lecture will be live-streamed at MAZDA TRANS AOYAMA and MAZDA BRAND SPACE OSAKA and KOBE MAZDA EVENTSQUARE and MAZDA HERITAGE SPACE FUKAGAWA ! No reservation is required, so feel free to join us.

Afternoon Session: 13:30 – 14:30 (scheduled)

Nobukawa Katuaki : Head of Development for the 4th Roadster Manual Transmission
③Lecture Content
Development of the fourth-generation Roadster was undertaken with a return to the roots of the first-generation Roadster and guided by the philosophy of “changing to preserve.” The drivetrain, featuring a newly developed, dedicated 6-speed manual transmission, has evolved in terms of clutch pedal and shift lever operability, as well as environmental performance such as quietness, while achieving a lighter, more compact, and more efficient design than the first-generation drivetrain—contributing to this car’s nimble, fun, and exhilarating driving experience.
Don’t miss the behind-the-scenes story of how engineers dedicated solely to transmissions achieved this enjoyable shift feel!
The year 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the Luce, Mazda’s first flagship sedan. To celebrate this milestone, we will be showcasing a selection of flagship sedans from each generation.
