Talk by the Editor of Mazda’s Centennial History
Schedule:
11:00–11:50 (planned)
13:30–14:20 (planned)
This is the third session in a lecture series by the editor responsible for compiling Mazda’s 100-year history, titled “Mazda 50 Years Ago – A Turning Point.”
In the mid-1970s, the automotive industry experienced a period of great upheaval due to increasingly strict emissions regulations and the energy crisis triggered by the first oil shock.
During this time, Toyo Kogyo (now Mazda) underwent major reforms in a wide range of areas—including corporate management, product development, and domestic sales. This period can be seen as a pivotal moment that shaped the company’s current path.
In this lecture, we will revisit events from 1975 (Showa 50) and take a journey back to a turning point in Mazda’s history.
*The lecture will be conducted in Japanese only.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary, we are showcasing rotary-powered vehicles released in 1975.
