Details of main activities in FY2020

We at Mazda Motor Corporation offer our heartfelt condolences for those who lost their lives to COVID-19, and to their families and loved ones. We also offer our sincere wishes for a quick recovery for those who are suffering from the virus and its effects.

 

<Support for healthcare workers>

  • In the United States, MNAO conducted a program in cooperation with its local dealer network to provide enhanced cleaning and oil changes for the vehicles of healthcare workers nationwide free of charge from April 16 to June 1, 2020. These services were offered not only for Mazda vehicles but also models from other manufacturers.

  • In Europe, MLE provided 15 vehicles to a rental car company to assist in the transportation of healthcare workers and medical personnel. These cars were made available free of charge through online booking during the first phase of the pandemic.

  • In the Netherlands, MMNL provided eight cars on loan to people working in their local community's healthcare sector for their safe transport to and from work. Along with the cars, MMNL also gave each healthcare worker a special plate with the word "#Zorghelden ," which means "Healthcare Heroes," for display behind the windshield when the vehicle is parked.

  • In Romania, MMRO along with other corporate sponsors cooperated with a local popular restaurant in Bucharest to provide lunch to doctors working in hospitals specializing in the treatment of infectious diseases from April 8 to April 10, 2020.

  • In South Africa, during the lockdown period, MSA provided free vehicle inspection services to Mazda car owners who were engaged in the country's healthcare services to express its gratitude for their efforts.

  • In Japan, Kobe Mazda provided 3,000 masks to Kobe Medical Cooperative Association. Kobe Mazda also provided them 30 cars for healthcare workers to use for commuting to reduce their risk of infection while using public transportation and shorten their commuting time and as well as to use during breaks.
    Koushin Mazda made donations to the Yamanashi Nursing Association and the Nagano Nursing Association to help support healthcare workers.

<Support through NGOs and private organizations>

  • In Switzerland, MSSA launched "Mazda Help," a program supporting NGOs and private organizations, and in cooperation with Swiss dealers provided vehicles to help them deliver medical supply and nutritional products during periods of high need. Employees also participated in volunteer activities such as a convoy of Mazda cars to deliver toys and sweets to a hospital where terminally ill children were being treated.

  • In the United Kingdom, MMUK provided British humanitarian charity RE:ACT with vehicles to assist in their activities in combating the COVID-19 virus. Mazda vehicles have helped to support 37 counties across the UK.

  • Thanks to your cooperation, Mazda in Japan has been supporting welfare activities during the coronavirus pandemic through donation activities.* Mazda donated to the Nationwide Campaign to Support Welfare Activities During COVID-19 of the Akai Hane Central Community Chest of Japan through contributions from the Mazda Customer Survey Questionnaire based on the number of responses received from customers and a percentage of sales from the Mazda Collection.

<Support for local residents>

  • In Poland, MMPOL together with domestic dealers provided 30 vehicles to the Alivia Cancer Foundation under the slogan "#HelpTogether" to transport cancer patients safely and comfortably to their treatment centers during the pandemic.

  • Italy's MMI has provided vehicles to two activity groups facilitating volunteer activities to help elderly people living outside the city center and other people in need. The Mazda cars were used to deliver medicine and food. during the pandemic lockdowns in cities.

  • All dealers in Portugal provided one vehicle on loan to their respective local municipality to be used for transporting the elderly in each area.

  • MNAO in the United States solicited stories of people who were selflessly dedicating themselves to serving their local communities during these difficult times, and selected 50 people who made outstanding efforts and presented each with a Mazda MX-5 (Roadster in Japan) 100th Anniversary Special Edition vehicle.
