Accepting Internships

Cooperation with Community Training Utilizing Our Diverse Human Resources and Training Organizations

Group companies and dealerships provide various internship experiences to vocational/technical college and university students.
In FY2020, Tottori Mazda accepted one student intern from a vocational/technical college for two months. During the two-month period, the intern worked alongside various service staff in a one-on-one work experience arrangement. At the end of the internship period, the student commented, "It was quite useful to understand not only the specific work details of service staff but also the general atmosphere within the company."

Kobe Mazda, which also places importance on hands-on internships, has consistently offered internships to students for more than two decades to enable them to learn the importance of the work they perform and to gain a broad perspective of the range of vocational choices through work experience mainly at car dealers. In FY2020, Kobe Mazda offered two programs, a 2-day program and 7-day program, and accepted a total of 46 internship students. While opportunities for participating in hands-on internships are decreasing due to COVID-19 restrictions, Kobe Mazda made every effort to provide opportunities for students in a safe environment. Participants in the programs commented, "It was completely different from the internship I had imagined, and I had to think about a lot of things on my own. I had a lot of fun and feel that I have grown.

As an initiative in human resource training through industry-academia-government collaboration, Mazda has been providing internships for vocational/technical college and university students. Since FY2015, Mazda has been strengthening its organizational relationship with institutions of higher learning by expanding its program to include a broader range of internship levels for students from their freshman year up to postgraduate studies. A new approach was adopted for internships in FY2020. Instead of engaging in co-creation work and hands-on training, which are mainstays of Mazda's internships in ordinary years but were not possible due to COVID-19 restrictions, each intern student was paired with a Mazda employee and took part in internship activities online. Altogether 29 interns participated in the program.
