Most young girls dream of riding a pony. However, as a nine-year-old dedicated diarist, all Kristen Holliday wanted was a Mazda MX-5.

“One day I noticed this stunning little sports car whizzing past me,” reflects Kristen. “I’d never seen such a fun-looking car and from then on that was all I thought about.” Fast-forward hundreds of journal entries later to when Kristen was studying at university and her husband Andrew surprised her with a 1991 model MX-5. “I couldn’t believe that the fiction I had written about had become reality,” says Kristen. “We’ve taken our little red Mazda on some exciting adventures — including a trip to the all-new MX-5 launch in California. It was unbelievable to realise that I was living out that ultimate California dream I’d written about as a child.”
