Mazda's Passion Energizes Sports
Soul red, the ultimate color for Mazda's passion, is more than just about firing up car enthusiasts' imagination around the world: it is also about igniting baseball fans' excitement in Hiroshima.
Mazda has long supported the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, a professional Japanese baseball team known for its symbol's color scheme featuring red and which has been dubbed the “red helmet army.” At the moment, Mazda is providing a special version of soul red as the color for the Carp's helmet.
Moreover, we have purchased the naming right to the ballpark where the Carp is based, naming it “Mazda Zoom-Zoom Stadium Hiroshima.”, ever since 2009.
A soul red helmet of the Carp is displayed far away from Japan in Mazda's Mexico factory as a symbol of our connection to Hiroshima.
Meanwhile, we have also been supporting the Sanfrecce Hiroshima professional soccer team. In 2014, we became the uniform sponsor of the team when it competed in the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Champions League. This was our third such sponsorship, following the ones in 2010 and 2013.
Sanfrecce Hiroshima is the successor to Mazda's corporate soccer team that boasted a successful track record, including winning four consecutive championships from 1965 to 1968 in the Japan Soccer League, the predecessor to the current J-League professional soccer, and placing third in a 1969 tournament which later became the AFC Champions League.
Fueled by Mazda's passion, the Carp and Sanfrecce will be firing on all cylinders this season and beyond.
