Mazda’s Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH) provide the ultimate in headlight technology, lighting up the road ahead as if it were daytime and allowing anybody to enjoy safe and stress-free driving at any time of day.

The system increases visibility at night to help drivers stay vigilant by combining three technologies: Glare-free High Beams which automatically dim part of the illuminated area to avoid dazzling other drivers, Wide-range Low Beams which light up a wider area at low speeds and Highway mode which helps you see further when travelling at speed.

Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH)

Glare-free High Beams

Modern headlights produce high beams, which are most commonly used on dark roads at night, and low beams, which are necessary when passing oncoming vehicles. ALH’s high-beam headlights consist of an LED array divided into four blocks, each of which can be switched on and off independently. Using a windscreen-mounted camera to detect other vehicles’ headlights and tail lamps, the system temporarily dims individual LED blocks to control the area illumination and avoid dazzling other drivers. Glare-free High Beams provide the bright illumination and excellent visibility of traditional high-beams at all times, even when passing oncoming traffic. The system operates at speeds above 40 km/h.

Wide-range Low Beams

Wide-range low beams fitted to the side of each headlight illuminate a wider area than is possible with traditional low beams. Operating at speeds of up to 40 km/h, these new low beams improve visibility at night, particularly when passing through intersections.

Highway Mode

Adaptive LED Headlights automatically raise the axis of illumination when vehicle speed exceeds 95 km/h. This enhances visibility at a distance, helping drivers to recognize traffic signs and potential hazards earlier.

* Some functions are limited due to vehicle speed, external lighting conditions and when driving through urban areas.
* The system may not function appropriately due to a variety of factors, including weather conditions and road conditions (curves and undulations), or in the presence of external light sources such as street lights and traffic lights. It is important to be aware of the limitations of the system, maintain awareness of your surroundings and drive safely at all times, including manually switching between high beams and low beams when necessary.
* ALH is designed to alleviate the burden of driving and reduce damage resulting from accidents and is predicated on the driver operating the vehicle in a safe manner. It is important to be aware of the limitations of the system and drive safely at all times.
* Please check the owner’s manual or consult with sales staff for additional important system details, limitations and warnings.
