MESSAGE

Nobuhiro Yamamoto, current MX-5 Program Manager

Thanks to you, the Mazda MX-5 has reached its 25th year.

On the 10th of February this year, the Mazda MX-5 was able to celebrate its 25th anniversary. I truly appreciate all of your love and support. When I saw the numerous messages from you on Facebook and Twitter, I once again felt that the MX-5 was supported by many fans over the last 25 years.
Everytime I see the smiles on the faces of everyone enjoying the MX-5, I think, "I'm glad I joined Mazda."

We encountered many challenges during the development of this car. However, we were able to overcome each one of them because we really wanted to make a car that "makes everyone happy." Your smiles empowered us to conquer each obstacle. And our challenge still continues. For the succession of cars that "make everyone happy" throughout the next 25 years and beyond. For the delivery of the joy of driving and the "Jinba-Ittai" (horse and rider as one) experience to as many people as possible.
I am delighted that the MX-5 was able to celebrate its 25th anniversary together with all of you.

We will continue our journey together with you and will continue to take on new challenges for the evolution of the MX-5.

We received message from former program manager
in celebration of MX-5's 25th anniversary.

Message from Toshihiko Hirai, former MX-5 Program Manager

Happy 25th anniversary.

At the time I assumed the role of program manager for the first-generation MX-5, lightweight sports cars were nearly extinct. So I experienced many hardships because I was in a situation where I was unsure whether we could really shed light on this market. Although the project was officially approved, both human resources and budget were extremely limited.

However, the developers, who believed that true car lovers would love the MX-5, made every effort to get it on the market and managed to accomplish this feat.

Thanks to all our customers who supported our beliefs, the MX-5 was able to continue on for the last 25 years, and I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude.

I know that developing and selling this kind of car is as difficult, if not more, today. However, as a car that delivers driving celebration, which is continuously pursued by Mazda, a brand represented by the "Jinba-Ittai" concept, I wish it can continue to live on with all of you.

Message from Takao Kijima, former MX-5 Program Manager

Happy 25th anniversary. A quarter of a century ago, I created the MX-5 with the wish to make every day fruitful for anyone by going through various stages of life together with the "Jinba-Ittai" MX-5. People from around the world praised the MX-5 for being a car that responds at the driver's will. For developers to embody the "Jinba-Ittai" concept, design techniques that faithfully reflect theory continue to shine through even today. I am very glad because my wish came true, as customers got to know the fun of driving. I am feeling immense joy together with the developers. I am sure that people's sense to seek pleasure out of driving will remain unchanged forever. I'd like to end by wishing Mazda all the more prosperity in the unchanged tradition of developing cars with the emphasis on the human sense.

Second and Third-generation MX-5 Program Manager
