1. Domestic Production
Additional production of the all-new Mazda2 (known as the Mazda Demio in Japan) bound for Europe and increased production of the Mazda6 (Atenza), CX-7 and MX-5 (Roadster), among other models, led to a 20.3% rise in total domestic production compared to January 2007.

2. Overseas production
Although production of the Mazda6, Mazda3, Tribute and other models was healthy, total overseas production in January 2008 was down 11.0% year-on-year due to the end of production of Familia and Premacy models in China since FAW established itself as an independent brand.

Despite brisk sales of the Mazda2 (Demio), MPV and Mazda5 (Premacy) due to the new model effect, domestic sales decreased slightly, down 0.2% year-on-year in January 2008.
Mazda’s registered vehicle market share was 6.8%, down 0.2 points on January 2007, with a 3.5% share of the micro-mini segment (unchanged from last year) and a 5.6% total market share, which is down 0.1 points over last year’s result.

Exports increased over the same period last year, up 5.4% over January 2007, mainly due to brisk sales of the Mazda2 and increased shipments of the all-new Mazda6, which has commenced sales in Europe.
On a market basis, exports to Europe, Oceania and other markets (the Middle East, Asia and Latin America) were healthy.
