sales decreased for the second consecutive month since March 2006, down
2.5% year-on-year. Although sales of the MX-5, MPV and commercial vehicles
were brisk, a reduction in overall market demand and diminished new model
impact on sales of models such as the Mazda5/Premacy resulted in the total
figure falling below the previous year's result. Mazda's registered
vehicle market share in Japan was 5.7% (up +0.1 points over April 2005),
with a 2.6% share (+0.2 points) of the micromini segment and 4.5%
(unchanged compared to April 2005) total domestic market share.

+26.9 | For nine
consecutive months since August 2005, exports have exceeded the figures
from the same period last year, with April 2006 exports up 12.7% over the
same month last year. The positive results reflect the increased export
volumes of the CX-7, Mazda5 and MX-5, and the total exceeded last year's
results for the same period. On a market basis, in particular the rise in
North America-bound exports of models such as the CX-7 and Mazda3 led to
an increase to 30,031 units exported (up 77.4% year-on-year).

production units are calculated based on the parts and component shipments
for Mazda brand models to be assembled at overseas production
facilities.
Overseas production volumes increased for the fourth
consecutive month since January 2006 (+21.7%). In April 2006,
Mazda posted the highest single month of overseas production unit volume for the
month of April due to increased output volume of Mazda3 and Mazda6 models
bound for overseas markets. On a country basis, China-bound output volume
remained strong, reaching 14,092 units due to the increased volumes of the
Mazda3 and Mazda6 models. |
