Donation of Tribute Hybrids to Fire Departments in Southern California

The Tribute Hybrids donated to the Orange County Central Fire Authority
In February 2006, Mazda Motor of America, Inc., donated 36 Tribute Hybrid vehicles to firefighting units throughout Southern California. The Tribute is a hybrid, clean emissions and fuel-efficient vehicle.
The units that received the donated vehicles were the City of Los Angeles Fire Department, the San Bernadino County Fire Department, the Corona City Fire Department, the Orange County Central Fire Authority, the San Diego City Volunteer Fire Department, the City of Riverside Fire Department and the Salinas Rural Fire District. The vehicles will be used for two years.
Supporting NPO and NGO Activities Promoting Traffic Safety in the United States
For many years, Mazda Motor of America, Inc., has supported the activities of NPOs and NGOs that promote traffic safety in the United States. The Automotive Coalition for Traffic Safety, Inc. is one such organization. This NPO raises awareness of traffic safety by publishing pamphlets, sponsoring surveys and hosting symposiums.
Mazda Motor of America also supports the Airbag & Seat Belt Safety Campaign advanced by the National Safety Council, a United States NPO/NGO.
Supporting the Childhood Diabetes Research Foundation
Since 2000, Mazda Motor of America has supported the Walk To Cure Diabetes event, in cooperation with a team of companies, employees, families and friends.
Mazda Motor of America also participates in annual fundraising events held in Irvine, California; Somerset, New Jersey; and Sugar Land, Texas.
Supporting STOP GAP, an NPO that Performs Plays concerning Societal Issues
Since 1990, Mazda Motor of America, Inc. has supported the activities of STOP GAP, an NPO that visits facilities for abused women, nursing homes, shelters for abused children, high schools and other facilities, presenting interactive theatrical performances relating to societal issues.
STOP GAP's plays teach us how people handle difficult aspects of life. The Mazda Southern California Annual Tour includes 106 performances to an audience of thousands of Southern California residents.
The Mazda Foundation (USA) Aids Dillard University, a Historically Black University
Established in 1869, Dillard University is a coeducational, four-year, historically black liberal arts university. Since 1998, the Mazda Foundation (USA) has donated approximately $500,000 to the school's Japan Studies / International Business scholarship program.
Dillard University is located in New Orleans, Louisiana and suffered extensive damage from Hurricane Katrina. To help rebuild the university, the Mazda Foundation (USA) contributed funding for two professors, in addition to continuing its scholarships for students.
Preservation of the Natural Environment in South Africa and Support for Regional Development

Since it was founded in 1990, the Mazda Wildlife Fund has worked closely with the Wildlife and Environment Society NGO and the Endangered Species Trust NPO. The fund supports activities in environmental education on the protection of rivers, forests and wildlife, technical empowerment, regional development and employment generation activities throughout the Republic of South Africa.
Through these activities, the fund disperses approximately 150 million Rand annually, or ¥26 million.
