By participating in local events, Mazda deepens its commitment to local communities and helps stimulate economic and cultural activities in various locations.
Community Stimulus Plans

Hiroshima Flower Festival
We participate each year in the Hiroshima Flower Festival (near Mazda's headquarters), the Miyoshi Kinsai Festival (near the Miyoshi Plant) and the Hofu Tenmangu Tenjin Festival (near the Hofu Plant) among others.
Furthermore, in FY2007 the Hofu Plant participated in the 15th Love Hofu Flea Market, where it exhibited the RX-8 Hydrogen RE and held an Eco-Quiz competition. Some of the proceeds from the Flea Market were donated to next year's exhibition, and other funds were donated to the Hofu City Public Welfare Committee.
Supporting ‘P3 Hiroshima’

Mazda-sponsored game
Mazda supports three major professional groups in Hiroshima, known as ‘P3 Hiroshima’. Mazda assists with funding the Sanfrecce Hiroshima pro soccer team, the Hiroshima Toyo Carp pro baseball team, and the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra.
Besides co-sponsoring a Sanfrecce Hiroshima game once a year, Mazda helps to plan the Hiroshima Toyo Carp Viewing Tour and conducts other activities.
Assembling Local Amateur Runners Once a Year

43rd Mazda Ekiden Road Relay Race
Once a year, locals and Mazda employees participate in the Mazda Ekiden Road Relay Race that is held at the main office grounds in Hiroshima.
The 43rd competition, held in March 2008, attracted 303 teams, the largest number in a decade.
Mazda Museum Activities

The area showing the history of the Mazda Museum
As of March 31, 2008, the Mazda Museum at the Hiroshima Head Office had welcomed approximately 950,000 visitors since it opened. In FY2007, it focused on elementary schools by hosting social studies seminars for teachers and field trips for children to Mazda's car shipping wharf at the port, where they could see the cars being loaded onto ships for transport to market.
The Mazda Museum is the only automobile museum in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions of Japan, and we will continue to utilize it actively as a hub for social studies classes and local exchange activities.
Social Studies Seminar for Primary School Teachers

Social studies support seminar
Every year, Mazda holds a Social Studies Support Seminar for teachers in charge of Japan's Automobile Industry classes for fifth-year primary school students. This seminar includes a field trip to a plant so that teachers can personally have hands-on work experience.
At its eighth seminar held in FY2007, a new field trip was conducted so that participants could observe a training initiative for young employees at the WorldSkills Competition. Comments included "seeing is believing," and "I saw how cultivating, supporting and conveying human skills are important in this mechanized world."
Plant Tours
As a forum for communicating with local communities and an opportunity for school social studies classes, we welcome plant tours at the Hiroshima Head Office, Hofu and Miyoshi Plants. During FY2007, approximately 81,000 people visited these three facilities.
