In order to strengthen environmental conservation initiatives at domestic dealerships, in April 2008, Mazda began introducing the "EcoAction 21 (EA21)*1EMS at all domestic Mazda and Mazda Anfini-affiliated dealerships. Three dealerships have obtained certification as of July 2009.
- *1An environmental management system formulated by the Ministry of the Environment, based on the ISO 14000 international environmental system. Attaining EA21 certification requires the following: construction of an environmental management system; tracking and setting of reduction targets for CO2 emissions quantities, waste, and water consumption; and regular compiling and publication of environmental activities reports.
